Abstract
Induction and restriction are fundamental constructions in the representation theory of groups and algebras. It is therefore natural to ask for their categorical analogues in the categorical representation theory of monoidal categories, or more generally of bicategories. In this talk, I will first outline such an analogue in general, before discussing induction for affine type A Soergel bimodules. No prior knowledge of Soergel bimodules will be assumed. This is joint work with Marco Mackaay and Vanessa Miemietz.
