Abstract
Algebras in fusion categories are fundamental to the study of fusion categorical symmetries, as their categories of modules describe all possible finite module categories over fusion categories. For the past decades, the focus has been on the semisimple algebras, which correspond to the semisimple module categories. These only capture a very small family of finite module categories, and may have even concealed the fact that fusion categorical symmetries are actually quite ubiquitous across mathematics (and physics?).
This talk is an invitation to the vast world of non-semisimple algebras in fusion categories. I will speak about recent results which show that they can be studied in a similar fashion to how one studies non-semisimple finite dimensional algebras, i.e. using quivers and their generalisations. This talk is based on recent joint work with Matti Stroiński (arXiv:2602.19144) and an earlier work with Ben Elias (arXiv:2404.09714).
