Abstract
Magnitude is an invariant of finite metric spaces introduced by Leinster, which is considered to count an "effective" number of points. We discuss how to extend it to general metric measure spaces and how it can be compared to previous definitions of magnitude for infinite metric spaces. From the point of view of the quantisation of measures, we discuss Fekete configurations on compact Kähler manifolds, together with the convergence to the equilibrium measure as established by Berman-Boucksom-Witt Nyström, and their potential role in the study of this new extension of magnitude.
