Abstract
For many years a curious relation has been known between superconformal indices that count special Schur operators in 4D gauge theories and the characters of (typically non-unitary) rational CFTs in 2D. In recent times a generalised Schur index has been defined that generalises this correspondence in interesting ways. Moreover an old result from RCFT about contour-integral representations of characters has turned out useful in proving the generalised correspondence in many cases.
