        Abstract

In this talk, I will first explain how motivic homotopy theory allows to classify vector bundles using invariants in certain cohomology groups that are amenable to computations. For smooth complex threefolds, I will compare these invariants with the topological ones giving necessary and sufficient conditions for a topological vector bundle to admit an algebraic structure. I will then focus on the case of schemes over the real numbers, where the situation is more complicated.
