Abstract
This talk explores the critical issue of plastic waste, a global environmental threat that imperils marine and freshwater ecosystems worldwide. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as food-delivery services grew increasingly popular, the sharp surge in plastic waste generated by single-use cutlery (SUC) has become a significant environmental concern. However, effective policies to control SUC waste are largely absent, making it essential to identify methods for encouraging individuals to reduce their SUC consumption. By utilizing data from China, the world’s largest producer and consumer of SUC, the study investigated how green nudges can impact individuals’ cutlery decisions when placing food-delivery orders.
