Abstract
During the previous examination of the convex hull principle, we neglected quality control and preprocessing of the data, especially on gene filtering. As an example, from the perspective of gene expression, among the 10,850 genes in the dataset, the expression of MALAT1 (a LncRNA) is significantly higher than that of the remaining LncRNAs and all other genes. According to the relevant literature, the steady state expression level of MALAT1 is very high and is comparable to highly transcribed housekeeping genes. We therefore hypothesize that the presence of this housekeeping-like gene may close the distance between convex hulls. This week I will use this as a basis for presenting the impact of data quality control on the results of the convex hull principle.
