Abstract
Asymptotic properties of representations of classical groups can often be formulated in terms of the behavior of random Young diagrams, which can be considered as random two-dimensional landscapes. We will discuss the key asymptotic properties of such landscapes: convergence to limit shapes and universal local behavior, using a particular model (skew Howe duality) as an example.
