Biography
Godwin Amechi Okeke is currently a full Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria (FUTO). His area of research interest is functional analysis, with focus on fixed point theory and nonlinear analysis. He has published over ninety research papers in reputable journals, with over sixty of the publications indexed in Scopus. He obtained his B.Sc (Mathematics) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He completed his M.Sc and PhD in mathematics at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria. He was the first African to be appointed as a postdoctoral fellow of the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, Lahore Pakistan. He is currently serving as the editor of some notable mathematics journals, including Journal of the Nigerian Mathematical Society and International Journal of Mathematical Sciences and Optimization. He has won several awards in Africa and beyond. He won the Vice Chancellor (FUTO) Best Researcher Recognition Award (Platinum Category) 2020-2025, emerging as the second most published researcher in the university. He has mentored and graduated some postgraduate students. His former PhD student, Dr. Daniel Francis was given the best PhD thesis award in 2023 by the Nigerian Mathematical Society.
He is visiting BIMSA with a support from the "ICMRA Visiting Scholars Program".
