Abstract
Lattice gauge theories are physical models that incorporate local gauge symmetries on discrete lattices. The fundamental example is the toric code, a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge theory defined on a two-dimensional spatial lattice. In this talk, I will introduce various types or generalizations of lattice gauge theories. These theories include Dijkgraaf-Witten-type, bosonic or fermionic, higher-form, and string-net models. By examining these different lattice gauge theories, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of their mathematical structures and explore their intriguing physical properties.
