Abstract
The purpose of this talk is to show that abstract nonsense arguments may lead to surprising results in physical problems. First, we formulate the universal property of center by reviewing the center of a group. Then we introduce a new kind of morphisms between topological orders and verify that the bulk of a boundary topological order satisfies the universal property of center hence draw the conclusion ”the bulk is the center of a boundary”.

Hao Zheng received his Ph.D. from Peking University in 2005, and then taught at Sun Yat-sen University, Peking University, Southern University of Science and Technology and Tsinghua University. Research directions include low-dimensional topology, representation theory, mathematical physics, etc. The main research achievements involve the representation and application of braided groups, the partial proof of the knot volume conjecture, the categorization of quantum group representations, the functoriality of the centers of fused categories, the centers of enriched categories, the classification of topologically ordered gapless boundaries, and high-dimensional topology Ordinal classification, high-dimensional fusion category theory, etc. He won the Zhong Jiaqing Mathematics Award in 2007.
