Abstract
A famous early work in tropical geometry by Speyer and Sturmfels realizes the tropicalization of $Gr(2,n)$ as the space of phylogenetic trees. I will recall this construction and then consider the problem of extending it to other cluster algebras of finite type (rather than higher Grassmannians, which seems to be hopeless). An explicit answer will be given for type C in terms of trees with axial and/or central symmetry.
