Abstract
HCMU metrics are extremal Kähler metrics on compact Riemann surfaces with a finite number of singularities. Research on these metrics was initiated by E. Calabi over forty years ago. In this talk, we explain how to encode an HCMU metric efficiently by a weighted graph embedded on a surface. This encoding is built on the so-called "football decomposition" of such a metric and is inspired by the theory of meromorphic abelian differentials. As applications, we investigate some basic properties of the geometric moduli space of HCMU metrics. This is a joint work with Bin Xu.
