Abstract
The increasing use of large language models (LLMs) has revealed limitations in existing tool integration mechanisms, which are often tightly coupled to specific model APIs and lack reusability across applications. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) proposes a standardized, protocol-based approach to decouple models from external tools, data resources, and execution environments.
This report introduces the core principles and architecture of MCP, explains its execution model, and examines practical usage patterns in real-world applications. Representative examples demonstrate how MCP supports scalable, maintainable, and model-agnostic development of tool-augmented LLM systems.
