Abstract
We discuss a recent discovery of Craig et al. on prime detecting partition functions. We describe the structure of quasi-modular forms that detect primes, showing that they cannot have a cuspidal component. The proof follows by studying sign changes of quasi-modular forms. We shall state the generalization for forms of higher level. If time permits, we also describe an equivalent condition for prime detecting divisor functions using the Riemann zeta function. This is a joint work with Ben Kane and Yuk-Kam Lau.
