Abstract
Elliptic curves play a central role in number theory, with the Mordell–Weil rank being one of their most fundamental invariants. Selmer groups serve as a powerful tool for studying the Mordell–Weil rank. Mazur and Rubin investigated the variation of 2-Selmer ranks in families of quadratic twists of an elliptic curve. In this talk, we discuss a generalization of their results to the Jacobians of hyperelliptic curves of odd degree.
