Abstract
Building upon recent talks on self-force theory and gravitational wave modelling of asymmetric binaries, I will highlight how the secondary body’s spin and structure is incorporated into the formalism. I will contrast the description of the secondary with that of the primary, provide further insight into the current state of the art and comment on which parameters we might hope to be able to constrain in detections with LISA.
Speaker Intro
Josh Mathews is a research fellow in the gravitational waves group in the National University of Singapore. His research has focussed on black hole perturbation theory, the self-force formalism and gravitational wave modelling of asymmetric mass binaries. He is a member of the LISA consortium and contributes to the waveform working group. He completed his PhD in the relativity group in University College Dublin in 2022.
