Call for papers: special issue of Beijing Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics

5th December, 2023

Special issue of Beijing Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics

“Applied Algebraic Topology”

The Journal

The Beijing Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics (BPAM) is a newly launched international journal aiming to publish original research papers of the highest quality in all fields of mathematics and related fields, including applied mathematics and mathematical physics. The journal is published by International Press, Boston. Establishing the BPAM journal is a joint effort in several institutes in Beijing, including Yanqi Lake Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA), Tsinghua University, and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). For more information, please visit BPAM’s homepage: https://www.intlpress.com/bpam

The special issue

Applied Algebraic Topology is an exciting and rapidly growing area at the forefront of modern scientific research. It uses and develops ideas and techniques from Algebraic Topology to positively address an exceptionally wide range of problems arising in mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computing.

The objective of this special issue is to showcase the power and breadth of applied algebraic topology. Topics addressed include, but are not limited to:

  • Topological data analysis

  • Persistent homology and multiparameter persistence

  • Persistent Laplacian and Dirac

  • Topological robotics

  • Stochastic topology

  • Path homology, digraph, hypergraphs, and hyperdigraphs

  • Combinatorial topology

  • Topological methods in mathematical physics

  • Topological aspects of machine learning and topological deep learning

  • Topological methods in neuroscience

  • Biomolecular topology

  • Topological approaches to graph theory and networks

  • Algebraic topology in distributed computing

Target Dates

  • Manuscript submission: December 2024

  • Publication Date: March 2025

Guest Editors

  • Taras Panov (tpanov@mech.math.msu.su), Moscow State University

  • Stephen Theriault (s.d.theriault@soton.ac.uk), University of Southampton

  • Guowei Wei (weig@msu.edu), Michigan State University

Submission

Please submit the PDF file of your manuscript as an attachment to the following e-mail address bimsajournal@bimsa.cn. Only original research articles will be considered. Articles which have already appeared in substantially similar form elsewhere in the peer-reviewed literature cannot be considered. All submissions will be refereed by the journal to ensure high standards of quality.

Please ensure the subject line reads "BPAM Special Issue Submission" so that your article can be easily identified. You will be sent an acknowledgement e-mail within a few days to confirm your files have been safely processed. If you have any questions regarding the submission process, please contact us at bimsajournal@bimsa.cn.
