The Digital Economy Laboratory has released the China Digital Economy Index for the second consecutive year

As the modern age becomes more and more taken by the digital storm, digital economy has become a primary driving force behind global development. It quickly cemented its position as a powerful force behind the high-quality development of economy especially in China. Under strong policies and with the wide-spread participation of the general public, digital economy has not only reshaped the traditional industrial infrastructure, but also has helped optimize resource allocation as well as the promotion of new and emerging industries. These aspects of digital economy have allowed big data and statistics to exert its full potential.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), digital economy has received undivided attention. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China further emphasized the acceleration of the digital economy's development, deepening the integration of the digital economy with the real economy, and striving to create internationally competitive digital industry clusters. With the continuous upholding of policies, we have witnessed the optimization of China's economy in terms of both scale and infrastructure. This has undoutedly played a significant role in invigorating China's hgih-quality economic development.
In order to study the overall trend in China's digital economic development, and to differentiate the characteristics of the economic developments in various regions, the Digital Economy Laboratory at BIMSA has established and released the China Digital Economy Index since 2022. This index is based on four key aspects:
1. digital infrastructure,
2. industrial integration,
3. investment and financing,
4. digital governance,
from which a scientific and fact-based evaluation system for digital economic growth was built. It has successfully provided insightful and comprehensive analysis of China's digital economy for two consecutive years. Subsequently, the White Paper on China's Digital Economy (2022, 2023) has been expanded and released based on the analysis of this China Digital Economy Index.
These reports not only showed the scale and structural optimization of China's digital economic growth, but also explored the imbalance of regional development and its gradient development trends.. This provides objective data for policy recommendations and formulation, as well as advice on industrial development. Through in-depth analysis, the report has also highlighted China as a leading power in the global stage, in terms of its sustainable and potential for further digital economic development.
In the future, with the implementation of further economic policies, China's digital economy is expected to continue the momentum of its growth, which will help to inject more innovative vitality into the socio-economic development of China. Fei Long, a research group leader in the Digital Economy Laboratory, said that he will continue to release reports on the Digital Economy index in the furture in order to keep track and analyze he latet develpments in China's digital economy. These efforts will provide useful references for understanding the future of China's deevlopment trends as a whole.
