Biography

Pravin Kumar is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA), China. He completed his Ph.D. in June 2025 at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali (IISER Mohali), where he was a Prime Minister’s Research Fellow (PMRF), under the supervision of Prof. Mahender Singh.
His research interests are broadly on (low-dimensional) topology and (geometric) group theory, with a particular focus on the braid groups, knot theory, mapping class groups, Artin and Coxeter groups, and combinatorial group theory. He is also interested in the homotopy theory of (di)graphs and its applications to topological data analysis. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, he continues to explore these topics while broadening his research into the homotopy theory of (di)graphs.
