摘要
Motor systems show a remarkable robustness, but because they are highly nonlinear, understanding how they achieve robustness due to their different components such as neural networks, sensory feedback and biomechanics is difficult. Homeostasis is another notion closely related to robustness and can be interpreted mathematically in terms of invariances of the output on variation of an input within a network. In this talk, I will discuss mathematical tools we have developed for understanding complex dynamics of neural networks and their interactions with sensory feedback and biomechanics, all of which contribute to robust motor control. Applications to biological problems, including motor patterns in the marine mollusk Aplysia californica and homeostasis in biochemical networks, along with novel mathematical concepts inspired by these applications, will be highlighted
