Topics in Arithmetic Statistics
Arithmetic statistics studies the statistical behavior of arithmetic objects as they vary in natural families. In this course, we will introduce some basic questions and ideas in the subject, starting from classical examples involving number fields and class groups, and gradually moving toward probabilistic models, random matrices and groups, Selmer groups, and selected recent developments. The emphasis will be on motivations, examples, and connections rather than technical completeness.
